The next ICONPO, as decided by the executive meeting of the Asia Pacific Society for Public Affairs (APSPA) in Davao, the Philippines, will be hosted byThammasat University in Bangkok, Thailand on 10-11 August 2016, co-hosted by Sripatum University and Khon Kaen Univeristy. The theme for ICONPO VI Bangkok is“Information, Open Government, Democratic Governance, and Public Administration”.

Thammasat University is the second oldest university in Thailand. The university was founded on June27th, 1934. It was originally named by the university’s founder, Professor Dr. Pridi Banomyong, *the University of Ethics and Politics*. This name reflected its primary mission to offer higher education in the discipline of law and politics and to prepare Thai people for the new democratic system. Hoping to make higher learning accessible to all, Thammasat University began as an open university with 7,094 students enrolled in its first academic year.

At present, Thammasat University is one of a prestigious international research university offering all levels of academic degrees and producing cutting edge research across a broad spectrum of academic disciplines.The University has produced more than 300,000 graduates who have gone on to make great contributions to the development and progress of Thailand and the world. Notable university alumni include former Prime Ministers, leading politicians and government figures, Bank of Thailand governors, Supreme Court judges, provincial governors, as well as experts in various fields.

The original campus of Thammasat University—Tha Prachan campus (where the International Conference on Public Organization VI is held) is located in the historical area of Bangkok on the Rattanakosin Island and on the Bank of the Chao Phraya River. The campus is closed to various “must see” sights of Bangkok, including the Grand Palace, Temple of the Emerald Buddha, City Pillar Shrine, Wat Pho, Sanam Luang, and Arun Residence and Wat Arun (just on the other side of the river). In addition, the university is not far from a well-known street of Kao San Road. From Thammasat University, one can take public transportation (i.e., buses or boats and sky trains) or taxi to different shopping centers downtown, including Siam Paragon, Siam Square, MBK, and Central World.
